Brooke Masters is the chief regulation correspondent of the Financial Times. She covers the UK Financial Services Authority, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and helps coordinate the FT's global coverage of financial services regulation and corporate malfeasance. Her previous assignments at the FT include the UK financial services industry, writing for the Lex column and, in New York, the intersection of US law and business. From 1989 to 2006, she worked for the Washington Post in a variety of capacities in New York and the Washington area. She has extensive experience writing about the US Securities and Exchange Commission and white-collar crime, including the cases against Bernard Madoff, Martha Stewart, Frank Quattrone and Bernard Ebbers. In prior assignments at the Post, she covered criminal justice, education, and politics. Born and raised in Manhattan, Brooke attended the Brearley School and Phillips Exeter Academy. She graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University in 1989 and earned a master's of science in economic history from the London School of Economics. She and her husband live in London with their two children.
